Aster Baby and The Wild Rabbits are a Los Angeles, USA-based indie rock band who have just come to my attention thanks to the release of their new single. Exploring the end of a relationship, and the dramatic emotion that comes with it, it’s called Blue.
By Graeme Smith
The end of a relationship is never easy, but when that relationship is toxic, there can be catharsis in it. That’s the complexity of emotion that Aster Baby and The Wild Rabbits capture in Blue. The story is delivered through raw and stripped-back rock which beautifully showcases the captivating vocals. The arrangement and the emotion kicks up a notch during a meditative chorus that will stick with you.
Aster Baby and The Wild Rabbits are Sarah Velez on vocals, Mike Brunner on guitar, James Pressley on bass and Andrew Trujillo on drums. Inspired by the likes of Florence and The Machine, and compared to Portishead and PJ Harvey, fans of any of those acts will find a lot to love about their sound.
Blue was recorded in Anaheim, California with producer Albert Meija. You can check it out below.
