New Music: Molly Baker – One Year

Washington, DC, USA-based alternative rock artist Molly Baker has featured a few times on this blog before, having first came to our attention in 2022 when Jane interviewed her and included her music in her Underground Punk roundup. I followed it up with a share of her track Stunt Double last year, and now she’s back with a new one. It’s called One Year.

By Graeme Smith

A timely release, One Year looks back over twelve months in the life of a fictional character and their relationship with a friend. Molly showcases her storytelling chops in its lyrics with its tale slowly unfolding over the top of a gentle, intimate soft rock arrangement. As ever, her vocals are utterly captivating.

With an album on the way, now’s the perfect time to be getting into Molly’s music.

One Year was recorded at Cedar Lane Studios in Washington DC, and was produced by Stewart Mitchell and Jenni Rudolph. You can give it a listen below.
