Discovery: Marr Not Meeger

Marr Not Meeger, real name Rowan Meagher, is a Paris, France-based artist who has just come to my attention thanks to her debut single and the first release from her upcoming EP The Boy in The Tree. A mix of acoustic folk and ’90s grunge, its called Yellowcar.

Though now based in France, Rowan is Irish and grew up in Geneva, Switzerland. Her stage name, of course, refers to the difficulty she has getting people to pronounce her surname correctly, and acts as a helpful guide.

Her latest single is a gentle yet lively number that combines stripped-back melancholy with hints of vibrant rock. Descriptive lyrics paint a heart-rendering picture of complicated love. It’s a striking debut, and it’s clear that Marr not Meeger has the potential to go far with her music.

Yellowcar was recorded in Studio Montmartre, Paris by Andreas Lecter, who also did the mastering. Rowan’s EP The Boy In The Tree is set for release in the middle of this year. You can check out her debut single below.
