The Margaret Hooligans are one of the most prolific bands we’ve discovered and have been all over our pages since around this time last year. Now they’re back again with another single release from their upcoming fourth album ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll. It’s called Main Street Zulus.
By Graeme Smith
Main Street Zulus is a story about the worst blind date ever, imagining a woman who is stuck on an evening out with someone who padded their online dating profile. In true Margaret Hooligans style, the track comes with plenty of chaos, with the rousing percussion of Mr. Strontium meeting the angsty vocals and guitar of Meg Cratty. Cutting verses give way to jangly instrumental interludes before we get a punchy conclusion.
ThunderHole Rock n’ Roll is set for release in October this year. Main Street Zulus was recorded in the basement of Piety Street Publishing, and was mixed and produced by Mr. Strontium. It was mastered by KRAMER of Shimmy Disc Records. You can give it a listen below.
