Nottingham-based indie pop band Express Office Portico first came to our attention in 2022 when we shared their singles Cosmic Joke and Forget The Name over the summer. Since then, they’ve fallen of our radar a bit, but I’m glad to say they’re back on it now.

After a big year headlining shows in Manchester, London, Leicester, and of course Nottingham, as well as a slot at Splendour Festival, and supporting Cat Ryan, 2024 looks set to be even bigger for Express Office Portico.

The band are set to release their debut EP Incommunicado at the end of next month, and have just released single Are You Yourself? from it today. It’s an introspective coming-of-age story that opens gentle and stripped-back before building into some bold synth pop. The vocals are beautifully emotional, rising a falling nicely between the verse and chorus. It’s a timely reminder, should we have needed one, of just what a hot prospect Express Office Portico are.
