19-year-old singer songwriter Alfie Green is based just up the road from here in Whitby, though currently finds himself on another one of Britain’s coasts, studying in Brighton. He’s just come to my attention through the release of his debut single.

Piece of Me is a love song which is delivered through a gentle acoustic arrangement and Alfie’s drawling but expressive vocals. It’s romance for those who love the likes of Catfish and The Bottlemen or Arctic Monkeys, with an unmistakable Northern twang and relatable storytelling.

Though Alfie’s just starting out, he sings with heart and has a sound that is surely going to find an audience. The local connection is merely the icing on the cake. Keep an eye out for this lad.
