Discovery: Goddamn Wolves

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, Goddamn Wolves are an indie rock trio who have just come to my attention through the release of their new double-A side.

By Graeme Smith

Goddamn Wolves are singer, guitarist and songwriter Chris Weilding, bassist and vocalist Laura McCullough, and drummer vocalist Drew Foglia. They’ve been going since 2018, with three EPs already under their belt.

If the Pixies were starting out today, they might sound a little like Goddamn Wolves. Their sound brings the same kind of chaotic energy, with a raw jangle to the instrumental and passionate, irreverent vocal delivery. Part one of their latest release Older, Slower is alive with call and response male/female vocals and riffs that just wont quit.

Everything Real Is Free showcases a softer side of their sound, with a dreamy composition and gentle yet passionate vocals. There’s a compelling melancholy that runs right through it.
