New Music: ANDRÆ – I gave birth to myself

Belgium-born and London-based experimental pop artist ANDRÆ has been appearing on this blog since 2020 and never fails to delight with his quirky yet astute compositions, his latest being no exception.

By Graeme Smith

I gave birth to myself is all about transformation following abuse. In it, he opens up and lets us in on his inner journey to self-recreation. Personally, it’s a very relatable topic, and ANDRÆ handles it with the kind of unique approach that only he can. Soulful vocals are paired with severe electronica in the verse before we arrive at a percussive, cathartic groove in the chorus.

ANDRÆ continues to impress with his recent tracks. I feel like he might be on the threshold of something – 2024 will be a big year for him. If you like alternative electro-pop, I gave birth to myself is a must listen. You can check it out below.
