Cloudbelly are an American folk act who have appeared on this blog a couple of times before, going back to the end of last year.

The new single Restless Things is my first personal chance to run the rule over their music, and I wasn’t left disappointed. The first track written for their new album i know i know i know, it tells the story of love from start to messy finish. Opening ethereal, it quickly hits an emotional folk pop groove akin to the likes of boygenius and Maggie Rogers.

Cloudbelly are fronted by singer songwriter Corey Laitman, who is joined by guitarist Sam Perry, drummer and producer Nate Mondschein, and frequent collaborator Reed Sutherland. They’ve won awards stateside and are setting off on a US tour round about now.
