Opheliah is the performing name of indie songwriter and producer Tim Malkin who’s based just down the road from here in Leeds.

He’s just come to my attention through the release of his latest single By My Side. With so many songs about toxic relationships and heartbreak out there, Tim is offering us something different with his track, reflecting instead on the joy of friendship. It’s a subject close to his heart, and the song was prompted by close friends of his moving away.

Tim creates his music in Green Room Studio and there’s a raw intimacy about By My Side, with a warm hum in the background over which delicate guitar is poured. What catches the ear the most, though, are his smooth and understated vocals. They are instantly arresting and infinitely captivating.

I’m so glad to have discovered such a fantastic local artist. I’m certainly looking forward to getting better acquainted with Opheliah.
