Charlie Bishop is a singer songwriter based in Northern California, USA who has just hit my radar through the first single release from his upcoming third EP.

With his previous two EPs, Charlie firmly established himself as a folk performer, but his latest promises to push the boundaries of the genre. This first taste of it, Apple Seeds, is certainly an impressive one. Recorded in a single night after first arriving in California, his use of iPhone mics give it a raw and immediate quality, and what comes through strongly is his ability to paint a picture with the poetry of his lyrics.

Inspired by the likes of Nathaniel Rateliff and John Prine, fans of those artists are going to find a lot to love about Charlie’s sound. You can give Apple Seeds a listen below.
