Discovery: The Holy Mountain

The Holy Mountain are an Oslo, Norway-based synth-pop band who have just hit my radar through their latest single release, taken from their upcoming EP, They Are Asleep. It’s called Remains Unsaid.

To call their sound synth-pop perhaps over simplifies it. While synth is a big part of Remains Unsaid, and there is a certain pop accessibility about it, it goes much deeper. How much pop makes use of accordion, for instance? Tempering it are light and ethereal vocals and a driving electronic groove that will have you moving along to its tale of longing.

The Holy Mountain are Andreas Angell on accordion, Catharina Janner Røed on vocals, and Aleksander Tidemann’s on synths. Their EP They Are Asleep is set for release on 19 April.

Remains Unsaid was recorded and mixed by Marcus Forsgren at Studio Paradiso, and mastered by Espen Høydalsvis. You can give it a listen below.
