Whitby-based alternative rock band Sunbeam first featured on this blog almost exactly a year ago, catching my attention with their track Empire.
By Graeme Smith
They’ve been busy this past year, grabbing the attention of BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, supporting Kaiser Chiefs in Camden, and playing YNot Festival for the first time.
Now the guys from the North Yorkshire coast are back with a new one. Give Me Something is about the difficulty of opening up in a relationship, told from the perspective of the person on the outside. It’s a powerfully relatable story told eloquently through a raw, jangly intro that develops into a bittersweet rock arrangement.
Sunbeam are definitely making themselves known on the UK indie scene, and it’s easy to see why with their thoughtful and catchy tunes. Give Me Something is more evidence, if we needed it, that they’re ones to watch. You can check out the track below.
