Discovery: The Tonics

The Tonics are a Cheltenham-based rock band who have just hit my radar through the release of their debut single. Written about the aftermath of a breakup, it’s called Memories Won’t Drown.

First hitting the scene around a year ago, The Tonics have been focussing on their live performances and recording material in the background. So, even though Memories Won’t Drown is a debut, their sound is already starting to sound quite distinctive. It’s a single that goes in hard, blending pop with rock through blistering riffs, melancholic lyrics and compelling vocals.

The Tonics are lead vocalist Anna Marsh, guitarist and lead songwriter Alex Malpass, bassist Charlie Plews, and drummer Matt Joiner. Memories Won’t Drown was produced by Oscar Brown, and mixed and mastered by RML Studios. You can check out the single below.
