Realma is an alternative Goth rock artist based in Serbia who has just come to my attention through the release of her new track and video Down the Railway Spine.

Down the Railway Spine is a track that deals with trauma and PTSD, drawn from Realma’s personal struggles. The emotion is brought beautifully to life by the orchestrated style of the instrumental, Realma’s expressive vocals and some powerfully gripping lyrics. The track is composed in the 7/8 time signature, immediately giving it a distinctive feel compared to contemporaries.

The video sees Realma performing the track live, and gives it a hardcore Goth twist. Alongside her are some of Serbia’s most notable female performers, including Aleksandra Stamenković, Marija Uzunovska, Monika Pajazitović, and Tanja Marković, aka Cookbeat.
