I had the pleasure of catching Liz Lawrence play live at The Crescent in support of The Big Moon last year, and was impressed with her ability to hold an audience with her stripped-back yet powerful set.

Her new single Big Machine is my first chance to hear her music on record, and it doesn’t disappoint. The single has a rich composition with a driving, bass-y electronic arrangement playing over Liz’s characteristically vulnerable performance. What stands out the most, though, are the lyrics, which rail against a modern society that is slowly eating itself, led shamelessly by the political classes.
The track will feature on Liz’s upcoming album Peanuts set for release 7 June. It’s available for pre-order here. Liz is also about to set off on tour, with stops at Sheffield’s Get Together Festival on 18 May, Deer Shed Festival on 26 July, and The Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on 17 November. You can pick up your tickets here.
