SATRE is a Sweden-born, London-based singer songwriter who has just hit my radar through the release of his latest indie folk-pop single, Breathe Out.
By Graeme Smith
Having been releasing music since 2021, it feels like SATRE might be on the cusp of something big with his most recent release. It marks something of a departure from his earlier sound, ramping up the emotion and infusing folk into pop in a similar way to Hozier or David Kushner.
Breathe Out tells the story of a relationship falling apart due to substance abuse, and it’s brought to life with heart-breaking detail in its lyrics. If you’ve been in a similar position, you’ll definitely be feeling this one, and through all its powerful melancholy there is a sense of catharsis, especially in its dramatic crescendos, sung with passion by SATRE.
