James Longcake is a Bournemouth-based pop rock artist who has just come to my attention through his recently released anthem for individualism, Painted Nails.
By Graeme Smith
A BBC Introducing featured artist, James’s new single celebrates the little things that make us, us, and draws musical inspiration from the likes of The Rolling Stones and the band formerly known as Easy Life. In Painted Nails, he makes those inspirations his own with a unique composition that combines rock, funk and experimentation. Relatable lyrics are delivered through laidback yet expressive vocals. It’s lovely stuff.
Painted Nails features on James’s self-titled EP and was produced by him in his home studio. He sings, plays guitar, bass, keys and synths, and his brother David is on saxophone. You can give the track a listen below.
