New Music: Goddamn Wolves – Nowhere

Raleigh, North Carolina-based indie rock trio Goddamn Wolves first featured on this blog earlier this year through their double-A side Older, Slower and Everything Real Is Free.

Now I’m pleased to welcome them back to these pages with their latest single release, Nowhere. It’s a punchy number with a strong sense of emotion that hits your right from the first few bars. The instrumental intro gives way to male and female harmonies as the verse canters along with a sense of resigned nihilism that’s enhanced in the chorus. It’s one for lovers of the alternative, and bands like Pixies and The New Pornographers.

Goddamn Wolves are singer, guitarist and songwriter Chris Weilding, bassist and vocalist Laura McCullough, and drummer and vocalist Drew Foglia. Nowhere sees Laura taking on more of the singing and songwriting, giving us a different side of the Goddamn Wolves sound. You can give it a listen below.
