New Music: Eleri Ward – Moss

New York, USA-based singer songwriter Eleri Ward has featured on this blog a few times before, going right back to 2021 when I shared her EP Friction.

Recently, Eleri has been leaving her reputation as an interpreter of Stephen Sondheim songs behind and focussing on releasing original music. She made it onto these pages twice last year with her own compositions and now I’m pleased to say she’s back with another new one.

Moss celebrates the concept of returning to oneself and reflects her personal career journey. It’s a track that’s powerful through its use of minimalism. A looping acoustic guitar melody sets the early tone before Eleri’s vocals come in, delivering lyrics that are full of imagery and genuine emotion. No-one can bring that emotion to life quite like she can, and Moss will have you keen to cease your own future.

You can give the single a listen below.
