Discovery: Friend of a Friend

Friend of a Friend is a Chicago, USA-based duo who have just come to my attention thanks to their latest single, taken from their recently released second album FACILITIES. It’s called nothingforme.

Formed in the summer of 2020, Friend of a Friend are Claire Molek and Jason Savsani. They came together through a shared love of Portishead, M83 and The Kills, and found they instantly fit. In 2022, they conspired to record their debut album In Arms on tape in Nashville.

They’ve been slowly gaining notoriety through non-stop touring and coverage from the likes of Rolling Stone, and my life is certainly the better for discovering their music for myself. Nothingforme is a breath of a fresh air of an indie rock track, with rumbling drums, looping guitar and charismatic vocals. Just as you think you’re getting a handle on it, you are treated to a mid-song poem, and then a swell of electronica.

FACILITIES was recorded in Joshua Tree, California with producer Jordan Lawlor. You can check out nothingforme below.
