It was in 2019 that we last featured music by R&B and jazz singer songwriter Ruti and frankly it’s been too long. She’s now back with a new single called Don’t Make A Sound.

Ruti rose to the public’s attention by winning Season 7 of The Voice here in the UK and since then she’s been using that platform to create music that’s quite unlike anything else I’ve heard. Her 2019 track Racing Cars is one that still finds its way into my head from time to time, which is incredible given how many other songs I’ve listened to and shared since then.

Don’t Make A Sound shows us a different side of her sound, stripping things back with a powerful sense of intimacy. Her distinctive vocals take centre stage, and she creates a powerful sense of atmosphere with its minimal arrangement. I have no doubt it’ll be making a home in my head as much as Racing Cars did.
