J.J. Chamberlain is an indie pop rock artist based right here in our fair city of York who has just hit my radar thanks to his new track, Eyeballs.

The great thing about this city is that every time you think you’re acquainted with all its musicians, you discover another one. The punters of York’s bars have probably heard J.J. Chamberlain perform, but he’s new to me and I’m so delighted to have heard his music.
Eyeballs channels the spirit of early ’90s alternative rock to tell a story of loss, grief and eye infections. It opens big with some searching riffs before settling into an infectious groove. J.J.’s voice is laidback yet arresting, and become particularly compelling during an earworm chorus.
J.J. plays rhythm guitar, lead guitar, acoustic guitar, bass and provides vocals for Eyeballs with Takashi Takemura on drums and percussion, recorded remotely from Atlanta, USA. The track is a first single release from a debut album that’s in the works and you can give it a listen below.
