Sex Robots is Femegade’s third EP release, following 2021’s Pornsick and 2022’s Not All Men, and takes on the dystopia of everyday life.

The band have featured on this blog before, when Jane ran the rule over Not All Men, following it up with an interview. Sex Robots sees me sharing their music for the first time.
It’s something of a concept EP, with four tracks that explore different shades of darkness within modern society, especially those inflicted on women. We get tales of greed, unwanted male attention, body image pressures, ignored trauma and a male-led technological revolution.
The stories are told against a backdrop of fiery punk, kicking off with Broken Bones. Characterful vocals play among big rock riffs in the intro before things settle into a dark and defiant verse. The riffs come flooding back for a memorable chorus that proves that Femegades have an ear for an anthem.
What Is Yours Is Mine smoulders with touches of Americana and a sense of irony while No Sex Robots provides a highlight through its tongue-in-check sultriness and vibrant chorus. Toolish takes things on a psychedelic detour with echoing notes, driving rhythms, and raw lyrics before Depleted rounds off the EP with its heaviest moment. Relentless riffs set the early tempo before we get a soulful verse and a shoutalong chorus.
Femegades are a band breathing new life into the punk genre through their unique point of view. It’s rock for a new generation where women can no longer be ignored, and have long since proven they can rock it with the best. We will always have a lot of time for their music, and, lucky for us it, just keeps getting better and better.
Sex Robots is out now and you can check it out below.
