Debuting with an indie-pop sound that is perfect for bright summer days, German producer and vocalist Lara Tahm has the kind of sound that I’m looking forward to getting better acquainted with.

Now based in Munich, Germany, Lara has roots a little further east. Her surname translates in Estonian to ‘soot’ and she’s previously lived in the country’s capital, Tallinn as well as Helsinki, Finland.
Her debut single Shine was written in the depth of a Helsinki winter and you can feeling its longing for summer in its every note. Its airy arrangement is simply full of light, and sounds quite unlike much I’ve heard before. Lara’s vocals come into their own during its pleading chorus while the track’s strong sense of atmosphere never lets up. It’s a stunning debut which fans of Bjork will appreciate.
The single was recorded at the University of Helsinki Music Research Laboratory in Finland and was mixed and mastered by José Diogo Neves. It’s out now and you can check it out below.
