Seven years in the making, the Sun is the debut EP that ZOE from Earth‘s growing group of fans has been waiting for. You can now count us among them.

For the past seven years, ZOE from Earth has been lighting up the live scene in Australia. She tries to live the authentic life that her lyrics promotes and her sound combines the organic with the digital to create a cosmic world that’s full of humanity.

Her new EP opens with a slow-burning and ethereal instrumental Prelude which melts into the echoing and atmospheric Horizon. It’s here where we get our first taste of ZOE from Earth’s expressive vocals and her message of taking command of ourselves and seizing the day is unmistakable. A memorable melody makes the track a stand out, as does its slow-building style which pays off exquisitely in the track’s climax.

Sun sits as a centrepiece for the EP and has an expansive and soul-searching sound. Notes linger, the passion is high, and the lyrics defiant. Fire slows things down with an contemplative beginning before setting the record alight with a dramatic and cinematic moment.

This Too Shall Pass is the final single released from the EP and rounds the collection off with an airy acoustic number. Gentle vocalisations set the early tone before we get a track that’s full of ambience and plenty of instrumental textures to uncover. Its lyrics emphasis the EP’s message strongly, and you can’t help but feel roused.

The Sun is an EP with a lot to say, and does so clearly and without hesitation across its five varied yet thematically linked tracks. ZOE from Earth brings the emotion of the lyrics to life with her beautiful voice and the combination of traditional folk and modern electronica in the instrumentals is an intoxicating mix.

ZOE from Earth is promising her debut album soon and based on the evidence of this EP, it’s one not to be missed.
