Signal Static flip the cancel culture narrative with latest single Cancel Me.
By Graeme Smith
Signal Static are a Vancouver Island, Canada-based hard rock and punk band inspired by the likes of Tool, Pendulum and Queens of the Stone Age. Its line-up is Ryan Stringer on lead vocals and bass, Gino Klein on guitar, and Randy Camponi on drums.
Their music, which dwells on the theme of humanity and what it means to be human, previously featured on the blog last year. Jane was so taken with it that she interviewed them.
Cancel Me is their latest single and, as you might guess from its title, is a shot at the prevailing “cancel culture” narrative. It makes the point that what really matters is treating others with respect and taking responsibility for our actions when we don’t. Beautifully well-observed lyrics are delivered by passionate vocals against a backdrop of big riffs and urgent drums. A bristling chorus leaves it all out there.
Cancel Me was recorded, produced and edited by the band before being mixed and mastered by Ari Mihalopoulos of the band Destrophy. It’s out now and you can check it out below.
