If there’s one thing I’ve learned from years covering the underground music scene, it’s that there’s no such thing as an overnight success.

Artists will normally toil in obscurity for years before getting their break (if they ever do) and now, thanks to Los Angeles, USA-based multi-instrumentalist Pigeon Club, they have an anthem. Feeling his age in the DIY music scene, Wayne Whittaker, the man behind Pigeon Club, decided to put some of his frustrations to music. The result is his track and video, Another Year in the Minors.

Using baseball as a metaphor, Wayne brings to life the reality of being a musician through a melancholic folk rock composition. His soulful vocals deliver lyrics that are full of wistfulness and honesty, and it all gets tied together nicely by a memorable, bittersweet chorus.

The track features on Wayne’s album of the same name, co-produced by John and Amy Would. The album is out now and you can check out the video for Another Year in the Minors below.
