Leeds’ Thirteen Paris Vandals channels Pink Floyd in his latest track

An artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Jon Norton, aka Thirteen Paris Vandals, is based just down the road in Leeds. Yet, he’s only just come to my attention thanks to his latest single.

By Graeme Smith

Not contained by the concept of genre, Jon’s style is considerably fluid, ranging from lo-fi hip-hop to the prog rock of Pink Floyd.

Spots That Cover the Sun sits very much in the realm of the latter, with the classic Momentary Lapse of Reason album providing the template. Of course, the result is a dreamy affair. Acoustic guitar pairs with ghostly vocals in a soundscape that envelopes you. Headphones recommended.

Jon describes himself as “a regular guy with a wife and two children that loves making music” but Spots That Cover the Sun shows he’s being too modest. He’s an artist with an ear for a classic.
