The August Arrival are a Canadian indie folk band led by Yukon’s Sara MacDonald. They’re appearing on our blog for the first time through their psychological new single, Camped Out.

The lead single to their upcoming album Hillsides, set for release 11 October 2024, Camped Out teases the introspective journey on which the album goes. At once, it is a wider exploration of how our thought patterns can be affected by other things, and other people, and a personal story for Sara, who has a self-confessed tendency to overthink.
Musically, we get a driving, percussive rhythm from the off. It’s joined by raw guitar and Sara’s delicate and expressive vocals. It’s indie-folk, but with a subtle rock edge, and plenty of dynamism.
Joining Sara on the track is Jordy Walker who also recorded, produced and mixed the it at Stackwall Sound. It was mastered by Philip Shaw Bova at Bova Lab Studio. You can give Camped Out a listen below.
