Alt-rockers Myopia crown four years of work with the release of their latest album, Mind Party.

A British rock duo consisting of Ollie Edgington and Elliot Hawkins, Myopia’s debut album, Living On Sixes came out in 2020. Since then, they’ve been compiling an ambitious fourteen track follow-up that now sees the light of day.

Right from the off, you can tell Mind Party is a special effort. A looping piano melody creates atmosphere before melancholic vocals brings the emotion. Then, opening track The World Is so Loud really gets going and we’re drawn fully into the album’s world.

The band consider Muse and Radiohead among their influences and they’re easy to hear. We get Muse’s dramatic edge along with Radiohead’s cynicism. It’s a difficult sound to reinvent, but Myopia manage it with their new album. Fans of either band are going to love it.

Hard rocking moments like Mad Song and Luck are contrasted with more melodic moments like Angel System and Hibiscus in an album that always keeps you guessing what will come next. By the time you reach simmering, cathartic closer Movements, you’re going to want to start back again at the beginning.
