Miles and The Chain Gang take on Griff with new rock single

York’s own Miles and The Chain Gang reimagine Griff’s 2021 track Black Hole as a rock song with their latest single and video.

By Graeme Smith

Miles made the decision to cover the track because he felt “it was one of the best pop songs of the last few years. It absolutely epitomised the sensation of heartbreak and loss at the end of a relationship.” His version of the track speeds things up and gives us plenty of guitar. As ever, we get plenty of expression in the vocals, and Miles gives Griff’s lyrics plenty of emotional respect.

Joining him on the track are Mat Watt on bass, Rob Wilson on guitar, Ava Hegarty on backing vocals, Charlie Daykin on keys, Anthony Thompson on trumpet and Young Thugs’ Jonny Hooker on drums.

Black Hole will be out everywhere on 6 September 2024 via Sheffield’s Kycker music. You can check out its video, animated by Jamie Scrutton, below.

You can catch Miles and the Chain Gang live at York’s Food and Drink Festival on Thursday 26 September 2024.
