We rarely miss an opportunity to share music by Estella Dawn here at York Calling. Her latest storytelling single is called Julian.

The New Zealand-born, USA-based pop artist has been appearing on this blog since 2020, and I’ve lost count of how many of her tracks we’ve shared. Estella is showing no signs of slowing down, though, and her new single is right up there with her best.

Julian reflects on the uncertainty that love and relationships drive, as ever eloquently put by Estella’s meaningful lyrics. They’re backed by a stripped-back pop groove that gives plenty of space to her compelling vocals. A cathartic, cinematic chorus will give you goosebumps.
