Indie pop singer songwriter Sukh releases second album, Heading East.

Heading East is the follow up to Sukh’s 2022 album Age of Strangers and sees him taking a different direction with his music. Lyrically, it explores the highs and lows of a long-term relationship while musically it draws on classic song writing of the past and the present.

For the record, Sukh teamed up with long time collaborator and producer Rox Capriotti from the band Shape of Water and together they have created a raw collection of eight tracks.

Kind gets things going in a bright and bouncy fashion. Sukh’s vocals are instantly captivating thanks to their smooth and soulful delivery. They tell a story of finding balance in love, cutting through the tiffs and disagreements to find a deeper connection that forgives all. There’s a timelessness about it that means it feels like both a throwback and a modern track. I think Sukh’s sound will find fans among music lovers of all ages.

For The Road ups the tempo with a cantering country pop number before Far slows things down with a simmering ballad that builds to a powerful crescendo. Conquered rounds off the album’s first half with gentle moment that borrows from ’80s power pop. It’s a highlight.

Love Atom combines science and emotion in a shimmering electronic moment. Faith broods with bass and soul-searching lyrics. Home strips things back during a slow-burning and vulnerable meditation. If You Are closes the collection with its rawest moment. Delicate piano sets the tone, giving plenty of space to Sukh’s vocals before things build to a passionate climax.

Sukh’s new album wonderfully varies genre while keeping things thematically clear. Love conquers all across its romantic, relatable story. It’s an instant classic.
