Taking a playful jab at the artsy souls of the world (themselves included), I Wanna Be A Hipster is the latest single from Helsinki, Finland’s post-punk band Drug Store Raid.

Post-punk perhaps doesn’t go far enough to describe Drug Store Raid’s sound and it was the indescribable nature of their genre-blending which caught my attention. Their new single brings in elements of jazz, funk, pop, and dance to create a track that’s quite unlike any other. Yet, at its core is rock, and I Wanna Be A Hipster brings a heavy sound that will envelope you. Expressive vocals float over its weighty bassline while we get jagged guitar riffs aplenty.

The single is the first release from the band’s upcoming album Background Music For Family Arguments, set for release 15 November 2024 via Kieku Records. The album will be launched at Semifinal in Helsinki on 28 November.
