Ryan Christopher Parks grabs our attention with reflective new track

American songwriter Ryan Christopher Parks grabs our attention with his unconventional, storytelling single, A Beginners Pottery Class at Gavilan Community College Every Monday Night (Dongle).

Ryan Christopher Parks, who also performs as B. Hamilton, is an Oakland, California-based artist who marches to his own beat.

The wordiness of his new single gives more than a hint as to how he’s doing things differently with his music. It’s a track that opens quiet and reflective. A minimal instrumental gives plenty of space to his detailed, storytelling lyrics which are beautifully delivered by his smooth, soulful vocals. As the track progresses, the complexity of the composition grows, as does its sense of emotion.

I listen to a lot of music for this blog, and it’s always great when an artist comes along that makes me stop what I’m doing and hang on their every word. Ryan’s new track does that in abundance.

A Beginners Pottery Class… features on his new EP Billy Goat Acres And Other Words I Know How To Spell which is out now. You can give the track a listen below.
