Hertfordshire’s Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires have been lighting up streaming platforms, Tik Tok and the airwaves. Now we welcome them to our blog through new their album, Psychedelic Soul & Trash Vol. 3.

A duo consisting of Nick Foster and Luke Barratt, Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires were born, as the guys put it, “out of the burning crucible of the DIY Mashup scene of the early ’00s.” I remember it well. The veneer of mashups maybe be gone, but the spirit lives on.

Their new album mashes together genres as diverse as psychedelia, Northern soul, funk, garage rock and indie pop to create something fiendishly varied.

There’s a reason why the duo have timed their new album for a Hallowe’en release. It draws on the ghoulishness of the season to create its macabre atmosphere. Lead track Autumn Fall is the perfect case in point, being lively and upbeat, but with an undercurrent of spookiness.

Elsewhere we get cosmic psychedelia in album opener Interstellar Life and the cinematic Cosmic Discotheque. Summer Haze defies the season with a smouldering number that will have you sweating before Rialto slows things down for a soulful moment. A Long Walk Home gives us some spoken word storytelling. We are vibrantly returned to the Cosmic Discotheque through its second part before Theme From Cannibal Holocaust closes the album in a spirited fashion.

Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires’ new album is one that takes you places – be it space, the disco or the cemetary gates. Wherever you end up, you’re guaranteed to have a good time there. We get atmosphere aplenty across each of its tracks, and just the right amount of ghoulishness to soundtrack your spooky season.
