Anže Kenk brings flavours of rock and emotional storytelling with new album, Walking Away.

Anže Kenk is a singer songwriter with indie rock, punk and alternative rock leanings. He’s appearing on our blog for the first time thanks to his new album, Walking Away.

The album deals with loss, introspection and relationships as well as the meaning of life and societal issues such as conflict. Its story begins with bombast and heartbreak with the driving and anthemic Never Hold You Again. The track starts the album on an emotional footing with plenty of energy to get the listener engaged. The riffs are big and the choruses are bigger.

From there, we dive headfirst into nine further tracks that run the gamut of rock to indie pop to acoustic folk. In This Life brings philosophy with its lyrics while title track Walking Away provides a vibrant, nostalgic moment that channels the spirit of ’90s Britpop.

Same Thing tees up a string of gentler tracks which includes the passionate, questioning Why and the raw and bopping Downtown Show. To The Underground is rich with atmosphere and wanderlust. 4 In The Morning livens things back up with a driving, defiant moment before Stay and Last Goodbye round off the album with acoustic romance and textured introspection.

Anže Kenk has a sound that’s simply absorbing. His mix of rock styles keeps his new album feeling fresh throughout, and his relatable storytelling gives us plenty to feel. You’ll run the full spectrum of emotions listening through it, which I strongly recommend you do without distractions. It’s an album that’s easy to get lost in.
