Featuring Alex Barty-King, Nicholas Wemyss, Melody Wayfare, Jonathan Woods, Euan McGinty and Max Mason, DAAY is a project that has featured on this blog several times before, but not since 2023 when I ran the rule over their EP, Cosmic Gossip.
Their new track Should I Lie is a bold new effort. It opens with terse call and response vocals before arriving at a verse that combines smoothness with edge, and pop with psychedelia. It’s complex without being off-putting, familiar yet original. It’s one of the best things I’ve heard this year.
The band are planning the release of their next EP, DAAY, soon.
Should I Lie was produced by DAAY and was engineered by Alex McArthur. It was recorded at Ghost Town Sound and Alex’s flat and was mastered by Green Door Studio. It’s out now and you can give it a listen below.
