Sonia is a Polish R&B and indie pop songwriter who has recently relocated back to her home town of Warsaw. She’s signed to Marathon Artists and has previously toured with James Arthur and Lucy Spraggan.
She first came to our attention a couple of months ago thanks to her team up with Duit, Blooming Season. The song is the title track to her new EP, Blooming Season Part 1, a collection all about having it all and the fear of losing it. The EP kicks off with the track. It gets things going in vibrant and emotional style with Sonia’s expressive vocals immediately on display. A soaring, dreamy chorus provides an early memorable moment.
Clothes Off brings with it a groove that somewhat disguises the anxiety of its lyrics. The tension is thrown away by a seductive pop chorus. Previously released single Insatiable proves another highlight thanks to its moody instrumental which nicely contrasts the lightness of Sonia’s vocals. Things become a whirlwind of emotions in a knockout chorus.
The EP is closed by Everything At Once which takes things in a pop rock direction during a vibrant, defiant chorus. With it, Sonia proves she’s the master of subtle genre changes in a collection that feels much bigger than the sum of its parts.
Sonia’s pop credentials have been there for all to see for some time, and she is able to back it all up with thought-provoking storytelling and plenty of emotion in her new EP. With it, we get four diverse tracks that are easy to get into and have plenty of replay value.
Part 2 of the collection is set for release in Spring 2025.
