Real name Hannes Pröstler, Dreamer Dreamer is an artist hailing from Vienna, Austria. He’s appearing on our blog for the first time thanks to his debut album, New Face.

The album chronicles the end of a long, toxic relationship and is designed as a concept album, taking us right through his healing process. It opens with Lullaby and we at once get the emotion of this journey through this short but powerful intro track. It spills seamlessly into Reveal which switches things up with some big, hard rock riffs.

Echo brings with it some intricate melodies and an expansive, soaring style. Hannes’s vocals take on a particularly soulful quality during this early highlight. Things get deliciously heavy at its conclusion. Aether then provides some contrast with a delicate moment that’s full of resigned heartache.

Traces is a slow-burning number that becomes pleading in the chorus. Placebo ups the tempo during a vibrant pop rock track that’s worthy of its namesake. Mars is suitably severe while title track New Face proves another highlight thanks to its jangly, dramatic use of loud-quiet. Diving closes the album with some gentle ambience that develops into a reflective soft rock conclusion.

The catharsis that Hannes clearly felt creating this album is palpable and there’s plenty for the listener to relate to across its nine tracks. If you’re a fan on emotional hard rock then you’re going to find a lot to love about this debut. Hannes has put his all into it and it’s paid off.

Truly a one man band – Hannes produced the album and performed all the instrumentals except for the drums. New Face is out now and you can give it a listen below.
