Love Ghost x Skold speak for a generation with new album

Voice of a generation Love Ghost teams up with Skold to deliver a must-listen album.

By Graeme Smith

Real name Finnegan Seeker Bell, Love Ghost has been performing music since the age of ten. His music has featured many times before on this blog, and I shared his team up with Skold, Ski Mask, in October 2024.

The track features on their new album, Love Ghost x SKOLD, a collection that touches on personal introspection, losing and finding your soul, witchcraft, death, the afterlife, politics and war.

The album brings together hard rock, emo and hip-hop elements in a way similar to Linkin Park, all while showing us plenty of Love Ghost and Skold’s individual flair. The pair work well together, blending big riffs with dark and emotional storytelling. It feels like a window into their inner worlds and the demons that populate them.

Nightshade and Cocaine and Great White Buffalo are early anthemic efforts while You Are the Gun (Valhalla) and Cemetary are relatively peaceful moments (while maintaining a sinister atmosphere.) Spacedust is an ecclesiastically cosmic highlight that sits at the heart of the album.

The aforementioned Ski Mask is a late album highlight with Love Ghost’s lyrics taking on a particular desperation during a slow-building first verse before arriving at an explosive, nihilistic chorus. Less Than Zero closes the album with some striking wordsmithery and simmering rock.

Love Ghost is marking himself out as one of the voices of his generation, and that’s no small part thanks to the song-writing on display in this new team up with Skold. Both artists bring the anxiety and darkness of the modern world to vivid life while giving us plenty of contemporary realness and edge. If you want to feel something today, listen to this album.
