Shining a light on global war crimes that go underreported in the media, Newcastle’s CIRCUS are new to our blog with their latest single, Puppies.

By Graeme Smith

There’s so much in the world that gets forgotten about as the media handles a few headlining grabbing stories before moving onto the next thing. For Newcastle’s CIRCUS, it’s not good enough. Considering issues such as the internment of the Uyghur’s in China, they wanted to speak up, and have done so in the form of their single, Puppies.

Opening with a low, almost threatening riff, the track slowly builds with guitar licks and rousing drums. As it grows, it becomes anthemic and Katy Campbell and Will Hunter’s joint vocals gives us the icing on the cake in the verse. It’s a track that takes its time unfolding, providing us with over six minutes of raw, hard rock.

Puppies is out now and you can give it a listen below.
