With a sound akin to Billy Bragg and Ray Davies, Wildcats and Koalas is the new single from York’s Miles and the Chain Gang.
By Graeme Smith
Though performed by Miles Salter and his band, the track was actually written by Syd Egan for his wife Raf. Miles and Syd go way back, and Syd has written for him before.
The track is a gentle acoustic number in which the song-writing is the focal point. Miles beautifully delivers the emotion of its lyrics while a soft instrumental, which features Alan Dawson on guitar, Andrew Willie on piano and synth, and Antony Thompson on trumpet, gives us plenty of nuance.
Wildcats and Koalas is out now and you can give it a listen below.
