Robert Silvester gets funky with original new single

With a sound inspired by Warhaus, Massive Attack, and ’70s funk, Robert Silvester has featured before on this blog in his own right, and as one third of the alternative rock band Trummerkind.

Now he’s back with a story of urban love and loss, Lost in the City. Opening moody and atmospheric, the track quickly arrives at a string-infused groove that bristles with undertones of disco. A spoken word chorus gives us some edge before things become light and airy in the chorus. All the while, its groove never lets up, demanding we move along.

I’ve not heard much like it, and it feels like a track I’ll be returning to time and again. Lost in the City was written and recorded by Robert at Seabrook Studios, Exeter. It’s out now and you can listen to it below.
