Taking on the complexities of mental health, introspection and self-betterment, Eliza Harrison Smith is new to our blog through her EP, The Way I’m Wired.

By Graeme Smith

Born and raised near Washington, DC, USA. Eliza moved to the musical mecca of Nashville to pursue her passion for song-writing. She’s already capturing attention, with singles from her new EP featuring on Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists.

The Way I’m Wired opens with melancholic yet brightly upbeat Backslide which dives head first into the collection’s themes with a confessional number. Eliza’s vocal is striking and works well with the folksy pop instrumental.

Bring You Down slows things down with a brooding moment. A percussive undercurrent provides a base on which guitar and keys are poured. Contradiction strips things back for an acoustic meditation before building to a cathartic crescendo. Hypocrite canters along with honest philosophy before Supposed To Be Happy rounds off the EP delicately in a raw and compelling finale.

Eliza’s new EP is a pop gem that’s beautifully compiled and full of emotion. She has a sound that’s bound to win a lot of fans while carving out her own space in a crowded genre.

The Way I’m Wired was recorded in Nashville, USA. It was produced by Christian Harger, mastered by Ruairi O’Flaherty, and features guitar from Patrick Droney. The EP is out now and you can give it a listen below.
