Since the end of 2022, Bristol-based punk band Mother Vulture have made themselves at home here on our blog. Their latest single and video, Slow Down, is their fifth release to be shared on these pages.

Opening with a tense riff, Slow Down shows us Mother Vulture’s heavy side thanks to a sludgy arrangement and some soul-searching lyrics. The track’s story is told, as ever, by the passionate and expressive vocals of Georgi Valentine Ivanov and things really start to get out of hand in a screaming chorus.

It’s a more mature sound than we’re used to from Mother Vulture and I like the direction they’re headed in.

If you fancy catching Mother Vulture live, they’ll be swinging by Corporation in Sheffield on 17 April 2025 in support of Bokassa.
