We’ve been covering the work of American rock outfit Fringe Frontier since September 2024 when they burst onto my radar with a single that I described as “flawless.”

Since then, they haven’t been disappointing, delighting us with two more singles over the course of the year. 2025 sees them back on our pages with their new track, This City.

An up-tempo number, we are greeted by a pacy riff before drums and vocals come in. The lyrics are beautifully poetic in the verse before things become punchy and memorable in the chorus. There’s a timelessness to Fringe Frontier’s sound that means it would work just as well in the 1960s as it does today. There’s more than a touch of Lou Reed about it.
