New to our blog, Melanie Cowmeadow has just caught our attention through her latest country pop single, Snakes & Ladders.

Life is unpredictable, something which Melanie equates to the board game Snakes & Ladders in her new single. Opening bright yet bittersweet, we instantly get a sense of ups and downs which is solidified by Melanie’s relatable lyrics. They tell a story of rolling with the setbacks, always seeking for the next way up.

“I wanted to write something that captured how life can sometimes feel like a game,” Melanie explains. “Sometimes you’re climbing that ladder, other times you slip down a snake, but you keep going. This song is my way of making light of those moments that can feel heavy.”

Snakes & Ladders is the title track from the Adelaide, Australia-based artist’s upcoming debut EP which she promises will explore love, loss, and personal growth. The EP is set for release later in 2025. Based on the evidence of the single, it’s going to be a record not to be missed. I’m simply enchanted by Melanie’s charismatic vocals and storytelling lyrics. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for the EP, and more from her.

The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
