We’ve been covering the work of the genre-straddling Adam + Attack by Fire since the end of 2024. Three of his singles have graced these pages before, each showing us a completely different side to his sound.

Now, thanks to his latest single, Freight Train and Thunder, we get to experience one more. The track was born from a spontaneous piano session in which its chords emerged organically. Adam then set about crafting it into a storytelling song.
While previous singles Chateau Clink, Rhythm That Was and All Good Hair Bands gave us Bowie-esque true crime, timeless folk, and ’80s experimentation respectively, Freight Train and Thunder has a retro pop rock feel about it. Elements of classic songwriters like The Beatles mingle with Adam’s own inimitable style. All the while, the story of its lyrics has us gripped.
In all my time running this blog, I’ve not known a musical chameleon like Adam + Attack by Fire. Yet, even with all the genre-hopping, each feels natural and right. It’s the sign of a true master.
Adam + Attack by Fire is the project of songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Adam Tarsitano. Based in Apex, USA, he’s been making music under the moniker since 2019.
